Artisan Trading Post

Artisan Trading Post
Where are you located? |
156 Medora Street, Unit 2, Port Carling, ON P0B1J0 |
What's the story behind why you started your business? | Artisan Trading Post was started by Aimee Sifft-Hernandez (my wife and her grew up together in Muskoka!). Aimee now lives as a missionary in south america with her husband and three children. She convinced me shortly after the pandemic to quit my career in Ottawa, move our family to Muskoka and run this business for her in Port Carling. I of course said "yes!!" |
What can customers expect when they come to your business? | A thoughtfully curated shop of handcrafted gifts and decor. We also have some unique vintage decor items. Half of our products come from the Muskoka region, and the other half from talented artisans and businesses around the world. We are becoming the go-to destination in Muskoka Lakes for hostess gifts. Our customers love that their purchases contribute to many charitable programs in the region and around the world. They like shopping with a cause and appreciate knowing how much time we spend sourcing quality products where artisans are blessed by working with us, instead of exploited and abused for profit. |
Can you share an insider tip about your neighborhood? | Field of Greens is a delicious destination-- they carry the most delicious and fresh groceries and prepared items that will stock the most scrumptious picnic ever. Pick out a blanket from Artisan Trading Post (and some other beautiful treasures), then go for a hike around huckleberry rock in Milford Bay where you can enjoy a picnic and beautiful views. |
What are some other businesses that you'd recommend people check out while they're in the area that you've tried personally and can recommend? | - Field of Greens - delicious gourmet groceries and super fresh meat/seafood! - Muskoka Crossing (revamped Torrance General Store) with fun vintage clothing trailer - Cacao Boys chocolatier in Bala - Cranberry sausages from Freshmart in Bala-- honestly amazing on the BBQ. |
Are you working on anything new? | We are launching a "spot the difference" activity book featuring vintage Muskoka photos that will help support organizations in Muskoka that fight food insecurity. |
